More tiny spring babies

Spring is full of fuzzy newborns. In last week’s post, I shared a photo of a tiny fawn with you. This week brings more spring chickens, er, goslings.

Now, I admit it. I do not love Canada geese. But their goslings are pretty cute. These particular ones live by a mountain lake in North Carolina.

I love that the grass is taller than they are:

Though the parents didn’t mind me being nearby with the camera, they didn’t mess around when a dog came walking by with its owners.

Back to the safety of the water

This single file line looked neat and orderly, but a few moments later, the goslings decided taking turns somersaulting in the water would be fun, and then the parents got all turned around keeping track of where each gosling was.

Orderly for a few moments

Searching for goodies at the water’s edge

Watching goslings run is fun, because they look so goofy.

Crossing a popular trail

I also had to chuckle when I saw this little gosling, first swimming across with a treat in its mouth, playing tug-of-war with one of its cousins, and then dawdling behind the rest. I wonder if geese parents experience exasperation just as human ones do.

How would you caption this last one?
